And we've done it! We've come to the end of the 9-part series on Fashion Week Spring 2012 trends. I'm exhausted! Never again. That was a lot of research, people. The things I do for you...let's do a quick recap and then I shall wash my hands of the whole thing.
Obligatory List of Trends (in no particular order):
1. Black and White: Wear them at the same time. NEXT.
2. Diaphanous: (means see-through) The more skin the better.
3. Flower Prints: Are girly and happy. Probably like you. If I know my target demographic (and I think I do), you're very flowery.
4. Stripes: Boys like them.
(I have no scientific basis for this hypothesis.) I'm right.
5. White: This time don't wear black with it. It's a leading lady color.
6. Color Blocking: Put on more than one color at a time. Apparently, it's interesting.
7. Ladylike Silhouettes: Let's accent our killer figures.
8. Yellow and Red: These are more colors you should wear. If you needed/wanted/could not go on with your day without a color suggestion.
AND FINALLY, NUMBER 9, THE MOMENT WE'VE ALL BEEN WAITING FOR:
FLOWY DRESSES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I hope the exclamation points showed you how excited I am for this last trend. Because it's a humdinger. I have about 20 dresses to show you. Clearly, editing is hardly something I need to work on. Let's just say you get more options of things to decide you like. It's how I'm rationalizing it anyway...
There was a lot of flowy dress-bottom movement on the runways, and the results were so pretty. Plus, a new trend popping up--well, not new, Rachel wears one in the second season of Friends, but nonetheless--is the see-through mullet dress! Doesn't that sound beautiful? Fashion's mullet. It's peek-a-boo up front and demure in the back! But this only occurs on some of them. Zac Posen made beautiful red-carpet looks without a mullet-y front. I will say, though, that this trend is a nice way to show off your legs while also wearing a floor-length dress...Something to think about. Take a looksey:
