AMURICA

I was feeling especially patriotic today/ didn't have time to wash my hair before we went out--thus, the bandana circa "The Wild West". I actually got the bandana from my good friend Grady, who is male, and straight, and as such, highly unlikely to even see that I mentioned him in my prestigious blog.

Nevertheless, I'm wearing my thrifted Mu Jeans that I cut myself--thankyouverymuch. So now they are VERY short, probably shorter than I would have preferred, but I've been looking at Nasty Gal too much lately, so really short shorts seemed like a perfectly acceptable fashion choice. Nevertheless, we must FORGE AHEAD.

So cute, no?

Kisses. For the United States of America. And my cheetah shoes.

Yellow On My Legs

I've decided...not contrarily or just to be annoying, but rather for my own comfort, to not do the typical "look at me in my pretty clothes" type of blogging. Not that those blogs don't have their own value. I frequent them like any other girl who just wants to look pretty in pretty clothes. My eternal struggle is that a. I don't have the money to pull off that type of blog (hint hint to any designers who want to give me free things. I WILL WEAR THEM.) and b. I don't really take myself seriously enough to be good at that type of blog. So. Here is my version. Yes I will make weird faces and pose in ways that real models shouldn't. That is just a risk you are taking by being around me. So for you young models out there who were hoping for a free lesson, keep a-walking, NOTHING TO SEE HERE.

I should preface these upcoming pictures by saying the lighting was what I was "going for" and entirely "intentional". Mostly I just wanted to show off my new happy yellow Fabrizio Gianni pants and my STRAWBERRY shoes (!!) which I've been meaning to show ya'll but I just haven't gotten around to it. I have other things in my life, ya know.

And if you had asked me what was in the red cup when I took these pictures...I would have replied "AGUA!!!" with hardly any slur at all.

Snippy Snip Craft Time!

I've been feeling a bit...creative with my clothes lately. Because really, if I won't wear a certain pair of jeans as jeans, but I will wear them as cut-offs, then, man, I just gotta live my life. So the scissors were brought out and I wreaked damage on some of my old standbys. It was liberating. I felt like a free woman. And you can too! For only $19.99 a month all this could be yours! Just kidding. I'm as free as candy on Halloween.

Mu Jeans--now shorts!

pink vintage Palmetto's--shorn

I'm sure you can probably see that I didn't cut the yellow Fabrizio Gianni jeans, but they were just so cute I had to show them to you!

Shopping Showcase

I went thrift shopping with my ma and got some great things! All of these shirts were four dollars or less. Isn't that insane!!!?!?!? I feel stupid paying normal price for t-shirts nowadays when I see deals like these. And honestly the quality of the craftsmanship and materials are way better than at H and M or Forever 21. (DISCLAIMER: I'm not hating on them. I go there too and get some cute things, but for the most part, I have become a thrift store gal. I'm a penny-pincher. I get it from my Czechoslovakian grandmother.) But honestly, I got a 100% silk top for two dollars. That's crazy talk.

So, here are my finds. (DISCLAIMER #2: My mother thinks that half the time I dress like an old man. This is true. I just like loose-fitting things, I guess. Not sure why. I'm not insecure about my body. I just like comfort. My ma says when I was little, she tried to dress me in frilly dresses and bows and shiny white patent leather pumps, but I would change immediately into a shirt and shorts. I was born this way, I guess. But I'm a gemini, so the other half of the time I'm in pretty dresses. Contradictions. Contradictions.)

Yep, all of this was $14.50 total. Makes me feel silly paying $45 for a top.

100% silk.

i'm a flannel junkie. and this is a light cotton, so it's wearable during the summer.

i LIVE in this.

probably the most controversial top of the bunch. definitely old man chic.

always makes me feel just a bit french.

Cheetah vs. Leopard

First things first. I started to write "Leopard Shoes" as the title for this post, and then I realized they could be "Cheetah Shoes". "What is the difference between leopard print and cheetah print?", I wondered to myself. And a quick google search revealed the answer. So I shall share that answer with you fine people.

Okay the top animal is a leopard. The bottom is a cheetah. This makes sense because cheetahs are the fastest land animals (I'm teaching so much), so it follows that they would be bigger and have longer legs than the little old leopard. Besides size, we can see that the spots are a bit different. Leopard spots have a circle in the middle. Leopard spots are a bit broken up, whereas the cheetah spots are, for the most part, solid. So anyways, enough of the tutorial. Here are my new "Cheetah Print" shoes!

By the way, they were three dollars. I die!

Winged Lion

My ma bought me a necklace! In fact, it's reminiscent of our trip to Venice. Around every corner and in every front yard there was a lion statue. The locals said it was the symbol of Venice. They mentioned other animal symbols for other Italian cities, but they escape me at the moment. I'm gonna say Milan's was the badger. Neither here nor there.

On this trip I bought a winged lion keychain in St. Mark's Square. Something to this effect:

Upon returning to America, I lost it. Rather, the lion fell of the chain during a night of drunken debauchery. I grieved deeply.  So when my ma brought me home a necklace with a similar lion, I died!

It's a touch reminiscent of the Pirates of the Caribbean coin:

But I love it anyways. Plus there's an "L" on it! That's convenient.

My new necklace:

Thanks ma!
