It Has Begun
Fashion Week has officially started ladies and gents. I'm so terribly jealous of all the people who get to be there. Unfortunately, my invitation got lost in the mail...they tried really hard to send me a back-up invite but it's all just so crazy this week, I don't know if it's going to work out. I would've RSVP'd "no" anyway. I just have a lot going on this week. I'm not sure I could've spared the time. Sigh. Another time, I suppose.

I went all the way to san antonio and all I got was this lousy picture of the alamo
For reals. I being the highly advanced creature that I am I FORGOT TO BRING MY CAMERA. And I don't have a fancy iPhone like you people, so this is LITERALLY the only picture from the entire weekend. I went to visit a friend, he took this lone picture, so there are no pictures of the two of us from the entire trip. I feel like a failure. So, I suppose all you can do is bask in the simplicity. I was unencumbered with technology. Womp womp. It was such a waste.
But I'll try to give a quick overview of the trip anyways. It was great! There was BBQ, and a drive-through alcohol stand where they sell the drink in bags (apparently that's less illegal?), and bowling, and a pizzeria movie theatre where you eat while watching the movie, the River Walk (which wasn't really worth all the hype), and the Alamo (which is where the only picture was taken).
Two things I will recommend, though, because they were probably the coolest things we did:
Numero Uno: Rudy's BBQ--dubbed "The Worst Bar-B-Q in Texas" and is ironically plastered all over the restaurant-- is the BEST barbecue. So yummy! We ate there twice in the span of four days. I couldn't get enough.
Plus it's cheap. And if you know me at all, those are the magic words. You buy your meat by the pound which hopefully gives you an indication of how much Texans love this place.
Numero Dos: Howl at the Moon is an awesome piano bar near the River Walk in San Antonio.
All in all, it was a great trip! I'm happy I went. It was nice to catch up with an old friend. Next time I must remember to bring a camera. Rookie mistake.

Woman Child
I love this shoot for many reasons. One is that it's showing this pretty grown-up looking girl surrounded by dolls and teddy bears. She's stuck between two worlds. Which is sad and something that I can't relate to at all--not be facetious considering I'm 23 and live with my parents... oh God, just writing it is depressing. Moving on.
Another reason I like this is her makeup and hair! Pretty pink lips and curly hair. I like the bun shots as well--they're so in right now.
And I love the use of jewelry. I've been stumped lately because I have this slinky floor length black dress to wear for an upcoming event and I have NO IDEA how to style it. I don't want to go too traditional because I don't want to date myself, but it is a formal event so I'm not sure how much python print would fly. It occurred to me when I was brainstorming the other day that green earrings might just do the trick--think Angelina Jolie at the Oscars in 2009--so I'll be on the look out for that. My point being that this girl is wearing a black dress and awesome green earrings as well. So perhaps I'm on the right track.
If anyone has any other styling suggestions, I'd LOVE to hear them!

Seeing Red
Oh man, I'm so excited for fall to be here! I'm ready for cooler weather, sweaters, Oktoberfest, Halloween, and RED LIPSTICK. Oh lipstick, how I love thee. You channel my inner Mad Men girl. You make me want to wear dresses when I'm drowning in a sea of jean. You make me feel like I'm living in a metropolitan heaven and not Phoenix, Arizona. Now, as much as I love you, red lipstick, I have a little beef with you. When I wear you, I look good as long as my mouth stays closed. But the second I speak or smile, it makes my top lip look surprisingly small--and as beauty standards of today stand--like a sad little caterpillar. And I don't want to have to draw outside my natural lip line with you. But maybe this is a fate I must resign myself to. Or maybe we should break up and I should just stick to gloss.

Hard
At this very moment I am in Texas. Fear not, you, I have set up many-a-post for my time in cowboy country. Day 1: Here's a picture of not one but TWO horses.
This might be a rough go after all. Maybe I'll give a proper inspiration board: Hard and Soft. Yup. I named it.
